2025 Young Artist’s Camps
The camp provides a curriculum of creative, process- based art education to children ages 4 and up. The week-long camps are from 9 to 12 noon, Monday through Friday. Our young artists enjoy fun and exciting creative activities using a wide variety of media, empowering them to recognize the importance of art across cultures and in everyday living. Our instructors are accomplished artists who employ innovative as well as traditional techniques to inspire and encourage each student. Art does get messy, so be sure to have your young artist wear clothes that don’t mind a little paint and glue! Each camp session culminates in an exciting and impressive exhibit of all of the young artists’ work.

One Week Sessions
Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 12 noon
Cost per child: $140
Siblings receive a discount.
As each class is the same each week, no repeating same class.
UGRA Assemblage Class: $100 per student

Ages 4-5
Instructor: Mimi Gavin
Young children LOVE TO CREATE!! Using a variety of materials and techniques we will explore the creative process. Age-appropriate literature and lives of artists will be woven into our artistic explorations. Drawing, painting, printing, collage and sculpture will be our means of construction and messy we will be. Please dress accordingly. Self-expression, imagination, nature and the world as we know it will spark our work.
Ages 6-8

Art Around the World
In this class we will be taking a trip around the world, exploring the lands and its people through art.
With age-appropriate challenges, students will experience a variety of media such as watercolor, clay, pastels, collage and found objects.
Ages 9-11
Instructor: Sharon Preston
Draw, Paint…and so much more!
This class is designed for our young, budding artists who are 9-11 years old. All students are encouraged to develop their existing art skills while embracing their own unique style and approach to art. We will be painting a large-scale city scape, work with self-drying clay, develop drawing skills emulate the wonderful and whimsical work of Laurel Burch…and so much more!
Fine Art Teen Camp
Ages 12+
Instructor: Phyllis Garey
Teens will experience the joy of creating while enhancing their knowledge and skills in the following areas: Drawing, Plein air, Printmaking (Collagraphy), Painting and Sculpture. We get messy so dress for it or bring a cover shirt!
Teen Clay Hand-building
Ages 12+
Instructor: Ren Trapino
Students will hand build a 8x8x8 inch house, could be a bird house, barn or your house! Use earthen clay and glaze it with your favorite colors. It might just end up as a cookie jar! Also hand build a few functional animal vessels such as turtle cups, cat plates, owl flower vases or use our imagination and build your own pet into a mug with it’s tail as your handle!
Teen Wheel Throwing
Ages 12+
Instructor: Reba Goodman
This class welcomes students of all levels, ages 12 and up. We will learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing. The class will focus on centering, pulling, and forming the clay into a vessel. Students will work at their own level with individual instruction in the fundamentals of wheel throwing. Students will learn to trim and glaze pieces for firing.
UGRA
Ages 11+
Instructor: Phyllis Garey
The Hill Country Arts Foundation is teaming up with the Upper Guadalupe River Authority to offer a fun and challenging workshop for teens! This camp consists of making art from the found objects removed from the river over the course of UGRA’s annual river clean up.
