Cheer Me Up Totem Workshop
with Marian Williams
The proceeds from this workshop are being generously donated by Ms Williams to the HCAF
This “Cheer Me Up” workshop will be a fun, hands-on handbuilding experience where we’ll collaboratively create meaningful totems to commemorate the flood, as well as the life and work of Gary Huntoon, a friend of HCAF.
Each participant will also create a personal totem to take home, reflecting their own creativity and meaning. We’ll explore new techniques, including the use of the extruder, sprigs, and sculptural approaches, making each totem unique, expressive, and enjoyable to create.
This five-day workshop will include planning, creating and making, decoration and glazing, firing of the totem pieces and ultimately building and placing the totems on the grounds of HCAF. Clay and all materials will be provided. Please bring your own tools.

Making a spirit doll is a loving way to creatively use color, texture and personal object for our visual focus. This class offers you time, space and materials to do just that. I will also have materials for you to make a visual for your ‘word for 2026’, so be thinking what that might be! I will provide many materials and objects, but you will want to bring some that have meaning for you. Remember: It is YOUR spirit doll! It can be serious or whimsical.
